Coach Summer League

As a part of the Southwest Airlines Pro Summer League, Westchester Knicks Head Coach Mike Miller will travel to Orlando to coach the New York Knicks Summer League team through their five game stint beginning on July 2, ending with Championship Day on July 8. Westchester Knicks Assistant Coach Coby Karl joins Miller as an assistant. This past season in Westchester, Miller and Karl led the Westchester Knicks to a record breaking season, recording 28 wins in their first season coaching together.

Derrick Alston

Westchester Knicks Assistant Coach Derrick Alston will travel to Las Vegas this summer as an assistant coach for the NBA Development League Select Team. Comprised of some of the NBA minor league’s top prospects, the team tips off play on Friday, July 8 at 6:30 p.m. ET.

DaJuan Summers

Summer League Team: New York Knicks
School: Georgetown University

DaJuan Summers returns to the court after suffering a season-ending injury in November, just three games into his first season with Westchester after receiving the team’s first-ever NBA Development League Player of the Week award. Summers has appeared in 83 games (seven starts) over four seasons in the NBA with Detroit, New Orleans and LA Clippers, averaging 3.3 points and one rebound over 9.9 minutes. Summers last played in the NBA with the Clippers in 2012-13, appearing in two games. Since, he has played internationally for Herbalife Gran Canaria (Spain) in 2014-15; BC Budivelnyk (Ukraine) in 2013-14 and Montepaschi Siena (Italy) in 2011-12. He also played 29 games for the Maine Red Claws in 2012-13, earning recognition as a D-League All-Star and All D-League third team selection. Summers was originally selected by Detroit in the second round (35th overall) of the 2009 NBA Draft, following three seasons at Georgetown University.

Jordan Bachysnki

Westchester’s starting center for the 2015-16 season, Jordan Bachynski finished the year averaging 13.1 points with 7.0 rebounds and 2.3 blocks. Originally acquired by the Westchester Knicks on February 13, 2015, Bachynski appeared in 18 games with Westchester in the team’s inaugural season. Prior to joining Westchester, Bachynski appeared in six games for the Charlotte Hornets during 2014 Summer League after going undrafted in the 2014 NBA Draft. The following summer, Bachynski played three games for the Orlando Magic White Team during 2015 Summer League then signed with the Detroit Pistons in September, to be waived the following month after appearing in two preseason games.

Darion

Darion Atkins

School: University of Virginia
Last Season: 8.7 PPG, 1.8 ASG, 7.3 RPG, 46.2% FG, 16.7 3P

Darion Atkins appeared in three preseason games with the New York Knicks in 2015 before being waived and joining Westchester as an affiliate player for the 2015-16 season. The center finished the season averaging 8.7 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game. A four year starter at the University of Virginia (2011-2015), Atkins played 123 games, averaging 4.4 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 0.4 assists per game. In his senior year, Atkins was named the Left Driesell National Defensive Player of the Year.

Jimmer

Jimmer Fredette

Jimmer Fredette was originally acquired by the Westchester Knicks in the 2015 NBA D-League Draft (first round, second overall). The Glens Falls, NY native received two NBA Call-Ups during the 2015-16 season, first by the New Orleans Pelicans on Nov. 10, 2015 under the NBA's injury hardship exception then on a 10-day contract with the New York Knicks on Feb. 22, 2016. He was named MVP of the 2016 NBA Development League All-Star Game after scoring a record 35 points on Feb. 13, 2016. Fredette played four seasons at Brigham Young University where he became one of the best players in all of college basketball. In 2010-11, Fredette led the NCAA in scoring (28.9 ppg) and won the 2011 National Player of the Year award (Naismith, Wooden, AP, Oscar Robertson, NABC, Adolph Rupp, Sporting News, Basketball Times, CBSSports.com, SI.com). Fredette finished his collegiate career as the all-time leading scorer in both BYU and Mountain West Conference history (2,599). He was selected 10th overall in the first round of the 2011 NBA Draft by the Milwaukee Bucks and played five seasons in the NBA with three organizations (Sacramento Kings, Chicago Bulls, New Orleans Pelicans).

 Travis Trice

Travis Trice II

School: Michigan State
Last Season: 15.3 PPG, 5.7 ASG, 3.4 RPG, 43.7% FG, 33.5% 3P

Appearing in two preseason games for the New York Knicks in 2015, Travis Trice II was sent to Westchester as an affiliate player for the 2015-16 season where he averaged 15.3 points and 5.7 assists over 34.1 minutes per game. Trice boasted a 134 game collegiate career at Michigan State University averaging 8.4 points, 2.8 assists and 2.0 rebounds per game. After going undrafted in the 2015 NBA Draft, Trice joined the Miami Heat for NBA Summer League, and signed with the New York Knicks the following September.

Ra'Shad

Ra'Shad James

Summer League Team: Milwaukee Bucks
School: St. Thomas Aquinas College
Last Season: 16.5 PPG, 1.1 ASG, 4.3 RPG, 50.3% FG, 36.8% 3P

Ra'Shad James joined the Westchester Knicks on February 23, 2016 via a trade with the Reno Bighorns, where James averaged 22.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists in 46 games over two seasons (2013-14, 2014-15). The guard attended White Plains Senior High School, where he was a teammate of former D-League star and current Brooklyn Nets player, Sean Kilpatrick. In less than two months with the Knicks, the Westchester native became the team's third-ranked point leader, finishing the season with an average of 16.5 points per game.
