WESTCHESTER KNICKS ACQUIRE JADEN AKINS IN DEAL WITH MOTOR CITY CRUISE 

 WHITE PLAINS, NY – September 14, 2026 – The Westchester Knicks, the official NBA G League affiliate of the New York Knicks, have acquired the returning player rights to guards Jaden Akins and Symir Torrence from the Motor City Cruise, in exchange for a future first-round pick (via Iowa) and their own future second-round pick in the NBA G League Draft. 

Akins, 23-years old (6-4, 195-pounds), most recently played on the New York Knicks 2026 NBA Summer League team in Las Vegas, appearing in 3 games (1 start), posting averages of 11.3 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game over 23.6 minutes of action. Last season, Akins averaged 15.1 points, 3.1 rebounds, 5.7 assists, and 1.2 steals in 47 games played (36 starts) with the Motor City Cruise. He recorded a career-high 35 points on 52-percent shooting (12-23 FG), along with five rebounds, and five assists against the Westchester Knicks on Jan.3, 2026. 

The Farmington, Michigan-native played four seasons collegiately with the Michigan State Spartans (2021-2025). During his senior collegiate season, he posted a collegiate-best 12.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game in 37 games played (all starts) over 27.3 minutes in route to earning All-Big Ten Defensive Team, NABC Great Lakes District First Team, Academic All-American Second Team, and All-Big Ten Third Team honors. In 138 career games with the Spartans, Akins scored 1,252 points and left Michigan State ranked 32nd on the all-time scoring list.
