LAST TIME OUT
On January 6, The Westchester Knicks (16-9), the official NBA G League affiliate of the New York Knicks, forced overtime but was unable to do anything more as the team fell to the Capital City Go-Go (11-9), 90-89, Sunday afternoon at the Westchester County Center.
Kadeem Allen banked in a three from the top of the key with just a second remaining in regulation to knot the score at 89 apiece following a closely contested battle. The Knicks led by as many as eight while the Go-Go’s largest command stood at six.
In the extra session, Westchester and Capital City had three and two empty possessions, respectively. On the game’s final sequence, Capital City’s Chris Chiozza was fouled and gifted two free-throws. He converted one but with under a second remaining, left no practical chance for the hosts and the final was settled.
John Jenkins paced Westchester with his fourth consecutive game in the 20-point column, ending with 22. He also led the team with seven assists for a second straight time and sank three triples.
Stephen Zimmerman finished with his second straight double-double made up of 17 points and 12 rebounds including eight on the offensive glass, marking the most by any Knick this season. Allen contributed 15 points, five dimes and seven rebounds while Zak Irvin pocketed another double-double of 10 points and 10 boards.
For Capital City, Jordan McCrae gave 26 points on 33.3-percent shooting. Chiozza added 12 points and a team-high seven assists. Devin Robinson’s double-double stemmed from 23 points and 10 rebounds.
The Knicks gave up 24 points on 23 turnovers but won the second-chance points battle 17-5. Capital City even this season’s series, 1-1.

FORTY FORTY CLUB
John Jenkins scored 40 points against Grand Rapids (12/15) which tabbed the second time this season he scored that much. He tallied 41 points against Lakeland (11/10).
FIRST TIME FOR EVERYTHING
John Jenkins finished with nine points against Austin (12/21) which marked the first and only time this season Jenkins was unable to score in double figures. He shot 25-percent which also marked a low in almost 37 minutes out on the floor.

WELCOME JAMEEL WARNEY
On January 8, the Westchester Knicks, the official NBA G League affiliate of the New York Knicks, have traded Xavier Rathan-Mayes to the Texas Legends in exchange for Jameel Warney, pending successful completion of physicals by both players, as announced by the team Tuesday afternoon.
Jameel Warney, 6’7 259, comes to Westchester after appearing in 22 games this season for the Texas Legends, the official NBA G League affiliate of the Dallas Mavericks. He is averaging 13.7 on 43-percent shooting (seventh-best on the team) and 6.8 rebounds (third-best on the team).
Warney scored 2,132 points during his four years at Stony Brook before going undrafted in the 2016 NBA Draft. The New Brunswick, NJ native signed two contracts with the Dallas Mavericks from 2016-2017 and signed a 10-day contract with the club in March 2018. Amid those deals, Warney also spent time with their G League affiliate.
Rathan-Mayes, 6’4 208, was most recently with the AEK Athens of the Greek Basket League from late July to late December.
With the Dub Knicks, the Canadian averaged 16.7 points in 43 games on 43-percent shooting (third-best on the team). He shot 33.8-percent from distance, collected 6.4 rebounds per game (third-best on the team) and dished 7.2 assists per game (309 total assists slotted first on the team).
Westchester is 2-1 in overtime games having. Grand Rapids (12/15) and Delaware (12/3) both endured losses to the Knicks. Capital City (1/6) came out on top by one.

Before Capital City (1/6), Westchester was 5-0 in games settled by three points or less. The Knicks’ 11-point loss to Austin (12/21) marked just the second time the team lost by 11 or more points. Previously, Westchester was 8-0 when an opponent failed to clear the 100-point mark. Capital City (1/6) scored just 90 in four periods and one overtime to tab the victory over the Knicks.

Stephen Zimmerman is averaging 5.1 made field goals in his last seven games and is shooting 56.3-percent. He is also grabbing 5.3 rebounds per game, scored in double-figures in all but one game in that span and is averaging 12.7 points per game.

Westchester scored 70 points through the first half against Iowa (12/19) which marked the most points in the window all season. However, the team scored just 36 points in the second half which marked the second-lowest this season.

He shot 67.6-percent from the field which was the best clip on the team. With 144:38 minutes logged in the span, he only committed four turnovers. However, from 12/27-1/2, he was averaging just 4.0 points per game on three total made field goals but averaged 8.0 rebounds.

Zak Irvin exploded for a career-high 22 points on an astounding 78.6-percent without a triple. He also came down with 10 boards and missed just three opportunities from the field. His four offensive rebounds tied a season-high.

Gyorgy Goloman connected on three triples against Fort Wayne (1/2) which marked a career-high. His seven boards also tabbed a career best. He played exactly 27 minutes against the Mad Ants which marked the most points he’s played in one game so far this season. He was also averaging 5.0 blocks per game from 12/27-1/2. Goloman is averaging 12 points on 50-percent shooting in the Knicks’ last two.
Zak Irvin has put up two consecutive double-doubles, three total for the season. Against the Raptors (1/4), he netted a career-high 22 points and 10 rebounds. Versus Capital City, Irvin scored 10 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. He has scored in double-figures five times this season. He has collected 10 or more rebounds four times this season.
