Warriors Top Knicks in Tightly Contested Battle

SANTA CRUZ, CA– March 11, 2023 – The Westchester Knicks, the official NBA G League affiliate of the New York Knicks, were edged by the Santa Cruz Warriors, 114-108, at Kaiser Permanente Arena Saturday night.

Trevor Keels (returning rights) led the Knicks with 22 points-his first 20-point game since January-on 62-percent from the field (9-14) and 60-percent from three-point range (3-5), three rebounds, and three assists. Moses Brown (Two-Way Player) picked up a double-double with 18 points and 17 boards while shooting 50-percent in his Knicks debut. Justin Wright-Foreman (returning rights) tied a season-high with 17 points and shot 60-percent from deep (3-5). Quinton Rose (returning rights) delivered 15 points and brought in seven rebounds. MJ Walker (returning rights) collected 11 points. Melvin Frazier Jr. (trade) added 10 points and seven rebounds.

Dusty Hannahs led the Warriors (13-13) with a career-high 33 points and shot 50-percent from three-point range. JaQuori McLaughlin tallied 18 points. Jayce Johnson delivered a double-double with 10 points and 20 rebounds.

Westchester (9-17) led by six at the end of the first quarter, 34-28. The Knicks credited an 11-point lead less than two minutes into the second quarter, 41-30, which marked just one of two double-digit advantages for Westchester. With a little over three minutes remaining before half, the visitors relinquished ultimately its last lead of the contest. Santa Cruz outscored Westchester by sixteen in the second, going into halftime up 65-55.

The Warriors largest lead all game was fourteen evidenced at 8:19 in the third quarter. The Knicks managed to contain the hosts to single-figure leads until around the five-minute mark of the fourth, 104-93. The Knicks would pull within four about two minutes later, but two empty possessions soon followed interrupting an effective comeback.

Tuesday, March 14, the Knicks battle the Stockton Kings at 10 PM ET.
