Skyhawks Trip Knicks

COLLEGE PARK, GA – February 6, 2023 – The Westchester Knicks, the official NBA G League affiliate of the New York Knicks, were not enough at the College Park Skyhawks falling 126-112, Monday evening at Gateway Center Arena. The loss halts a Westchester three-game win streak.

Three-point shooting haunted Westchester (6-8) as it shot 21.2-percent from distance while College Park (8-8) hit 44.4-percent of its looks. Most of the Knicks’ impact came inside the paint scoring 72 points by the basket-their most since playing the Skyhawks on Dec. 1 (78 points). The Knicks also edged the Skyhawks in second chance points, 15-12, and in the open floor, 21-11. 

Two-Way Player DaQuan Jeffries put up 24 points tonight and is averaging almost 29 points through his last two games. Jeffries also ended with 11 rebounds-his fourth double-double this season including Showcase Cup, three steals and three treys. Newcomer, Justin Wright-Foreman (returning rights) scored 17 points on 60-percent in his Knicks debut off the bench. Dmytro Skapintsev (tryout) recorded a career-high 18 points and seven boards. Two-Way Player Trevor Keels added 17 points and five assists while chipped in 14 points and eight rebounds. 

For College Park, Giorgi Bezhanishvili contributed 30 points and 12 rebounds. Tyrese Martin’s double-double consisted of 19 points and 11 rebounds. Langston Galloway had a 23-point game. 

All 11 lead changes of the game came in the first half and by halftime, College Park led 68-57. The Skyhawks continued to control the game mounting 20-point leads before subsiding for the 14-point final.
