WHITE PLAINS, NY – October 15, 2019 – The Westchester Knicks, the official NBA G League affiliate of the New York Knicks, announced it acquired the returning rights to JJ Moore and the 2019 NBA G League fourth overall pick from the Raptors 905 in exchange for the returning rights to Paul Watson and the 22nd pick in the third round.
JJ Moore, 6’6, 215, last appeared in the G League in 2017-18. Last season, he exhausted one year of his returning rights previously owned by Raptors 905 (originally traded from Long Island Nets) playing for CD Las Animas and Asociacion Deportiva Atenas. Concluding the 2018-19 season with Atenas, Moore averaged 12.5 points on 40.9-percent shooting, 1.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game.
Across two seasons (2016-18) with the Long Island Nets, Moore averaged 10.9 points on 46.4-percent shooting, 2.7 rebounds and drained 30.3-percent of his perimeter looks. In 2017, Moore competed in the NBA Summer League with the club’s NBA affiliate, the Brooklyn Nets.
The Brentwood, NY native averaged 7.9 points and 2.6 rebounds over his four-year collegiate career with Pittsburgh (2010-13) and Rutgers (2013-14).
Paul Watson, 6’6, 210, started 42 of 50 2018-19 regular season games and logged a team-high in minutes in his second season with Westchester. Scoring 8.2 points per game, Watson shot the ball at 43.8-percent from the field and 34.5-percent from downtown.
Watson totaled 53 assists and elevated for 28 blocks both besting his numbers from his previous season with the Knicks (2017-18).
The 2019 NBA G League Draft is slated for October 26 at 1:00 PM ET.
For its sixth season, the Knicks and first-year head coach Derrick Alston, will host Raptors 905 at the Westchester County Center Saturday, November 9 at 7:00 PM ET.
