Knicks Reach .500 Following Nine Point Win over the Charge

REUNION, FL – February 22, 2021 – Louis King of the Westchester Knicks, the official NBA G League affiliate of the New York Knicks, notched his third 20-point game of the season leading the Knicks to a 100-91 win over the Canton Charge, Monday afternoon at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort. The victory lifts Westchester (4-4) back to .500 with seven regular season games remaining.

King’s 20 points today mark his fourth consecutive game in double-figures. He shot 3-for-4 from three and went 66.7-percent from the floor. The affiliate player also grabbed seven boards and dished a pair of helpers.

Ignas Brazdeikis and Simi Shittu both recorded double-doubles. Brazdeikis, on assignment via New York, tallied 16 points and 12 rebounds and Shittu, a returning player, registered 10 points and a game-high 13 boards. Two-Way player, Jared Harper, concluded with 19 points and a game-high seven assists.

Sheldon Mac led the Charge (3-5) with 17 points on 42.9-percent. Antonio Blakeney and Malachi Richardson contributed 16 and 15 points, respectively, off the bench. Norvel Pelle snagged 11 boards for Canton.

Instituted by a King three on the setup from Harper five possessions into the action, the Knicks emitted 17 unanswered points over the course of the next six minutes before Levi Randolph’s lay-in stopped the flood, 20-8. For the remainder of the quarter, Canton crept in but mostly fought double-digit deficits but got within nine prior to the second quarter, 33-24.

Richardson drained a go-ahead three at the 4:25 mark of the second quarter, 38-37, but the Knicks edged the club by one at the intermission, 52-51.

The Knicks escaped striking distance of the Charge in the third quarter and did not relinquish a double-figure advantage for the fourth quarter’s duration until 21 ticks remained on the clock, 100-91.

Heading into the game, Westchester was the second-best three-point shooting team but only sank 23.3-percent of its look from distance today. The Knicks also scored a season-low 100 points in the contest. Canton’s 91 points scored also marks a season-low for a Westchester opponent which otherwise held its opponents to 120.9 points per outing.
