Knicks Fall in First Game of the Winter Showcase

LAS VEGAS, NV – December 20, 2021 – The Westchester Knicks, the official NBA G League affiliate of the New York Knicks, fell in its first game of the 2021 NBA G League Winter Showcase, 110-106, to the Texas Legends, Monday afternoon at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center.
Westchester (4-9) went up by as many as 13 points three minutes into the second and remained in the driver’s seat until the 2:12 mark of the fourth quarter. Texas’ (8-5) Carlik Jones scored a layup gifting the Legends their first lead all game, 100-99. Kethan Savage pulled up from beyond the arc to lift the Knicks back up two on the ensuing possession.
Two more ties followed before Jones put in a go-ahead lay in, 106-104, with 32 seconds left. Knicks shot 1-for-5 in expiring time while the Legends tacked on four more points to settle the final.
Brandon Williams (tryout) had a team-high 22 points, his first 20-point game since November 12. He also tied his career-high in assists (8) and rebounds (6) while setting a new personal best, five steals today. Savage (tryout) tied his personal records with 18 points and seven rebounds and chipped in three assists. VJ King (returning rights) put up 18 points and eight rebounds. Lydell Elmore (draft) collected a game-high 11 rebounds.
For the Legends, Jones finished with 26 points and four assists. Feron Hunt led all scorers with 29 points. Olin Carter III scored 23 points and gathered five steals.
The Knicks take on Ciudad de Mexico Capitanes Wednesday, December 22 at 12:30 AM ET.
