Five Knicks Reach Double Figures in Setback to Skyforce

BRIDGEPORT, CT – February 10, 2023 – The Westchester Knicks, the official NBA G League affiliate of the New York Knicks, were unable to top the Sioux Falls Skyforce, 114-96, Friday evening at Total Mortgage Arena. 

James Akinjo (affiliate) and Obadiah Noel (available player pool) both mirrored 19 points for the Knicks (6-10). Akinjo’s point total accompanied a team-high nine assists and four thefts. Justin Wright-Foreman (returning rights) contributed 16 points off the bench. Melvin Frazier Jr. (trade) added 19 points and nine rebounds and in Garrison Brooks’ return (affiliate) posted 10 points and eight boards.

Mychal Mulder led the Skyforce (11-8) with 21 points and four helpers. Landon Kirkwood came up with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Kadeem Jack also chipped in a double-double made up of 17 points and 11 boards. Sam Thompson gave an 18-point effort as a reserve. 

Both teams battled through five lead changes and four deadlocked scores, but the Skyforce led by as many as 18 points while the Knicks only went up by as much as four. The Knicks managed to outscore the foe in second-chance points 14-9 and points in the paint, 56-48. Where Sioux Falls was able to combat, came in its shooting in both the field and from the perimeter where it bested the Knicks, 55.3-percent to 43.5-percent and 43.3-percent to 25.8-percent, respectively. 

The second game of Westchester’s three game homestand is Sunday, February 12 at 1 PM ET against Raptors 905.
