Billy Garrett Inks 10-Day Contract with New York Knicks

NEW YORK, NY – April 2, 2019 – The New York Knicks have signed guard Billy Garrett to a 10-day contract as announced by the team Tuesday afternoon.

Garrett, 6’6, 215, signed as a local tryout player for the New York Knicks’ NBA G League affiliate Westchester Knicks after going undrafted in the 2017 NBA Draft following four seasons at DePaul. Garrett earned Big East Freshman of the Year honors in 2014, averaging 12.4 points, 3.0 assists and 2.4 rebounds over 29.4 minutes in 31 games (25 starts). He returned to Westchester prior to the start of the 2018-19 season.

This past season, Garrett was second-leading on the team with 16.5 points per game on 47-percent shooting in 48 games played (32 starts). He also added 3.8 assists per game (second-most) and 3.2 rebounds per game. He shot 31.6-percent from the perimeter, 85.6-percent from the charity stripe (team-leading) and logged almost 30 minutes played per game.

Garrett is the franchise’s all-time leader in points, field goals made, assists, minutes played and games played. He’s seventh all-time in rebounds.

The Chicago, IL native earned Big East Freshman of the Year in 2014 after averaging 12.4 points, 3.0 assists and 2.4 rebounds over 29.4 minutes in 31 games (25 starts).

Garrett is the tenth Westchester Knick to earn a call-up and ninth under head coach Mike Miller. At least one player has earned a call-up each season since Westchester’s G League inception in 2014.
