Inside The Matchup: Grand Rapids Drive vs. Westchester Knicks

By Joe Archino | March 30, 2017

Inside the Matchup breaks down every advantage that could lead to a #DubKnicks victory.

One game down in this final week, with two more to go. After an energizing win against the Canton Charge on Tuesday, Westchester is on the verge of completing its season. The team is hitting its stride during these final matchups, often unleashing potent lineups that wreak havoc on its opponent’s defenders. Few are more potent than New York Knicks assignees Marshall Plumlee and Maurice Ndour. Both players will be available to Westchester for the second time this week.

In the win over Canton, Marshall Plumlee recorded his fourth double-double of the season, earning 10 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Plumlee has scored in double-digits in 10 out of his 14 appearances on assignment.

Maurice Ndour was equally skillful, posting a stat line of 18 points, six rebounds, and two assists. Ndour has scored in double-digits in his last three games with Westchester, owning a double-double in two of those matchups. His NBA pedigree, combined with the experience at the pro level that both Ndour and Plumlee have acquired puts the Westchester Knicks in a strong position as it battles the Grand Rapids Drive.

The Knicks are 1-2 against the Drive this season. Both teams combined for 249 points the last time that they squared off. If this game turns into another shootout, Westchester is well prepared to trade fire with fire. Travis Trice II is the catalyst of that offensive acumen. Since his return, Trice II has scored in double-digits in all seven of his games with the Knicks. In his last outing against the Charge, he owned 26 points, eight assists, and three rebounds.

Through his last three games, Trice is averaging 24.0 points per game. His aggressiveness often rewards him with trips to the foul line, where he is almost automatic. Trice has attempted 44 foul shots in his seven games and has converted 40 of those attempts for a 0.909 percentage. Whether it’s his consistent scoring, playmaking, or efficiency, Trice is the total package. It will be his time to shine once again as Westchester takes the floor against the Grand Rapids Drive.

Be on the lookout for these keys to the game and more when Westchester takes on the Grand Rapids Drive tonight at 7:00 p.m. at the Westchester County Center.
