Red Claws Snap Westchester’s Streak

WHITE PLAINS, NY, November 29, 2017 – The Westchester Knicks (7-4), the official NBA G League affiliate of the New York Knickerbockers, saw its four game winning streak come to an end with a 111-100 loss to the Maine Red Claws (6-3), the Boston Celtics’ affiliate.

On assignment from the New York Knicks, guard Damyean Dotson finished with a team-high 23 points while center Joakim Noah provided nine points, five rebounds, four assists, and a block. Two-Way players Isaiah Hicks and Luke Kornet contributed 20 and 18 points respectively, Hicks with an added eight rebounds, Kornet with six. In his first game back from the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers with Team Canada, Knicks affiliate player Xavier Rathan-Mayes notched a double-double of 15 points and 10 assists while also grabbing six rebounds.

On assignment from the Boston Celtics, Guerschon Yabusele tallied a game-high 27 points with six rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Celtics Two-Way player Kadeem Allen supplied 26 points in the win with four steals and three rebounds, his companion Two-Way player Jabari Bird finishing with 12 points and five each of rebounds and steals. Center Jonathan Holmes also contributed 12 points and eight rebounds.

The teams sparred back-and-forth through most of the first quarter, neither team leading by more than five points. The Red Claws jumped out in the second, using an 8-2 run to rack up a nine-point lead midway through the quarter. The Knicks rallied back though, with back-to-back threes from Luke Kornet followed by Nigel Hayes to close the half, the home team tying it up 51-51.

Westchester continued to put pressure on Maine through the third, taking over the lead on four occasions. The Red Claws powered back though, and ended up with a two-point advantage heading into the final quarter. The Knicks ran out of steam in the fourth, Maine taking advantage of a 33-percent field goal showing from Westchester amounting to just 19 points. Hurting from 25 turnovers for 35 points in the game, the Knicks saw its streak end at four wins as Maine took the early game 111-100.

The Westchester Knicks travel to Indiana this Saturday, Dec. 2 to take on the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, the Indiana Pacers’ affiliate, for a 7:00 p.m. matchup. The game will be broadcast live on MSG Network and will be available streaming via MSG GO and Facebook Live.
